Wild turkey. They didn't hang around long. As soon as I'd come up on some, they would scatter. I jumped out of the car and got this shot. Not great, but at least you can tell what it is.
53889pMadonnaOfTheTrail * This statue, also with the Old State Capitol in the background, is the Madonna of the Trail. It marks the end of the National Road which was the first highway built by the federal government. The statue was donated in 1928 by the DAR in memory of the pioneer mothers of covered wagon days. * 700 x 685 * (153KB)

53961pHiding * One of the few bucks I saw and he's pretty scrawny. The bucks were really hiding out. * 467 x 700 * (93KB)

53972pEveningBuck * Same guy. Right after I took this shot, I moved a little bit to my left and down to try to get a clean shot without the branch. Lined up perfect and ... he bolted. Darn. * 700 x 467 * (106KB)

54018pDeerEveningLight * She's actually moving closer and closer toward me. She is very curious. * 700 x 467 * (121KB)
